My name is Sarah and welcome to nourishments where you’ll find a little something for your body and soul.

I was motivated to create this space primarily as a medium to share my grandmother’s recipes, nourishment for the body. She passed away in August, 2011 and family and friends are all hoping to track down those delicious tastes and smells that will forever remind us of her. Those memories are more lovely when we also remember her hearty, contagious laugh and her selfless character- which is where the nourishment for the soul will come in.

The Recipes
There’s a lot of them! My cousin, Jennifer and I sorted through 4 boxes which contained hundreds of recipes. Some were carefully typed out on index cards or hand printed on pretty stationary while others were jotted down on restaurant napkins, on the back of an old letter to my gram from my aunt in the 80s, backs of envelopes, and other scraps of paper. Mixed in were grocery lists and other mysterious notes and numbers. Some of the pieces were torn from magazines and newspapers and others were shared from other family and friends. It was a true goldmine and sharing it all right here with you seems like an appropriate way to spread some nourishment. We’re taking a ‘divide and conquer’ approach to digitizing the collection. First up, desserts!
